HARRISBURG – Recognizing the sacrifices made by Vietnam veterans in McKean County, Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) is pleased to announce a new law that will designate a bridge in their honor.

Under the law, the bridge on Kushequa Avenue (State Route 3009) over the Kinzua Creek in Hamlin Township is designated the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge.

“It is important we remember the men and women who fought in Vietnam, not just for our country but for the cause of Democracy around the world,” Causer said. “They all served with honor, and far too many gave their lives for us. We are blessed by their service and sacrifice.”

At the request of area veterans groups and local officials, Causer proposed the legislation, House Bill 1237, to name the bridge earlier this year. The proposal was amended into another bill, Senate Bill 117, which was signed into law by the governor today.

The law will take effect in 60 days. It is the responsibility of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to install and maintain signs marking the designation on both ends of the bridge.
