About Me
Marty Causer was elected to the state House of Representatives in 2002. Since taking office, Causer has made it his top priority to reach out to people and ensure they have convenient access to their state government and the services it provides.

To reach people across the expansive 67th District, which includes Cameron, Potter and part of McKean counties, Causer operates two full-time district offices in Bradford and Coudersport and offers monthly satellite office hours in Emporium and Port Allegany. Causer also provides a toll-free number so people in the furthest reaches of the district can contact him at no cost.

Recognizing the need to bring more and better jobs to the area and the state as a whole, Causer has supported many bills aimed at making the state more competitive and attractive to employers. He helped pass a law in 2006 that makes a number of reforms to the state’s business tax system. In 2007, Causer was appointed to serve on the House Commerce and Economic Development Committee, where he hopes to help continue the effort to enhance job opportunities in Pennsylvania.

Causer is also serving on the Aging and Older Adult Services, Environmental Resources and Energy, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees this session. He was named Republican Chairman of the Subcommitee on Parks and Forests within the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, and of the Subcommittee on Programs and Benefits of the Aging and Older Adult Services Committee.

Causer is a vocal advocate on issues that impact his rural district. He teamed with Sen. Joe Scarnati to help ease the local tax burden by passing a law to increase the payment that county and local governments receive from the state for state-owned game and forest lands. He also has been an active member and chairman of the House Timber Caucus, which focuses on issues and concerns affecting the timber industry.

Having served for years as an EMS volunteer, Causer also recognizes the importance of rural health care and the need to support volunteer emergency responders. He is working on legislation to elevate the role of EMS in the state by creating, within the state Department of Health, a director of EMS that reports directly to the governor.

He also is focused on reforming the state’s property tax system and ensuring all students have access to a quality public education.

Causer currently serves on the advisory board of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and on the board of directors of the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce. He previously served as a director of the Port Allegany Area Economic Development Corporation, as vice president of McKean County’s EMS council and as director of operations for the Port Area Ambulance Service. He also was a former dispatcher at the 9-1-1 Center in Smethport and a part-time police officer for the Borough of Port Allegany.

A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Causer earned a bachelor’s degree in history and political science. He was elected Annin Township supervisor at the age of 19, a position he held for nine years. He is also a McKean County Republican Committeeman.

Causer is a volunteer with the McKean County Emergency Management Agency and a member of Saint Mary’s Church in Sartwell.

He currently lives in Turtlepoint and is married to the former Melissa Parry with whom he has three children, Matthew, Morgan and Mallory.
